Albion Thwarted By A Fatigued Farsley

The Albion were somehow not able to pick up all three points as many chances in both halves were spurned resulting in only a point despite the battle-hard attitude shown by the Albion players.

Witton started the game on fire as Witton won a free-kick in the early stages of the game, James Foley took the set-piece and delivered it hard and low into the area, the ball was headed out for a corner and Michael Wilson got on the end of the Foley's corner-kick however he headed over.

In the 6th minute, James Foley took another corner from the left side and partly cleared by Danny Ellis, Michael Wilson latched onto the mis-guided header and slashed it wildly over. Witton created more chances and were dominating the game, looking like the only team who could go on and win the game in terms of the quality of chances created, that pattern carried on when Anthony Gardner whipped in a fantastic cross from the left flank, Tom Owens found himself in space but could only head the ball wide of the mark.

The chances continued to roll around as Will Jones was put through 1v1 with the keeper by Steve Tames but Jones' shot was saved by the FCFC keeper Kyle Trennery.

Farsley did have a small part of the game where they dominated the ball but rarely threatened Calvin Hare's goal despite a few astray shots by Nathan Turner and Ben Atkinson.

Will Jones tried his luck in the 28th minute when he attempted to catch Kyle Trennery out with an effort from about 40 yards by trying to loop the ball with power of the FCFC keeper's head. However the Celts' keeper adjusted his feet well to tip the ball over the bar.

Just before half-time, a solo run by Farsley's top goalscorer, Nathan Cartman got himself in behind Witton's defence, twisting and turning before tapping the ball home to give Farsley and undeserved lead.

The half-time whistle was blown and Witton would feel disappointed they couldn't score at least one of their chances on goal that were presented to them.

The second half started and Witton carried on the chance-creating momentum, and into the 48th minute, the ball fell to Tom Owen just inside the box and his shot was hit just wide of the far post.

Nick Ryan was brought onto the field of play on the 53rd minute in place of River Humphreys.

Albion finally got the first goal of the game when a ball that was meant for Will Jones runs through to Rob Hopley after Jones got wiped out by a Farsley defender and Hopley comfortably knocked the ball away to bring the score level. Witton looked to create more chances as the three points was a lot more important to The Albion than they were to Farsley Celtic.

The Celts looked happy to be taking just a point away and for the remainder of the game put all 11 men behind the ball with Witton's centre halves pushing up to increase the pressure on Farsley's defence and midfield.

On the 66th minute, Owen Dale was brought on for his first game since we played Whitby Town at Wincham Park, which was six weeks ago as he replaced Danny McKenna. Dale being brought on was to good effect as his pace and agility caused the Farsley defence havoc.

James Foley had a free kick from far out that he sent over to the head of Nick Ryan who knocked it down to Rob Hopley and his effort just sailed over the bar. Steve Tames was then later put through in behind Farsley's defence and his squared ball found Rob Hopley who struggled to get good contact on the ball and the ball was easily collected by the Farsley keeper Trennery.

More chances were created by The Albion but with no effect as the game finished at one goal a-piece.

A win was crucial for Macauley's men but it wasn't to be despite the chances that Witton had. The Albion next face Stafford Rangers on Saturday and your support will be appreciated hugely.
