A surprising second half hat-trick from Isaac Baldwin

Even with Farsley needing to win to keep Shaw Lane away in their promotion bid, the game started with little pace and the first couple of things of note came from Luke Parkin with a couple of attempts on goal, one of them being an overhead kick on the 12th minute that lacked any conviction to trouble Calvin Hare.

However, Witton started to threaten and Paul Williams broke the deadlock on the 15th minute when James Foley's found Rob Hopley but his header was saved and the rebound fell to Paul Williams who rifled his left-footed volley into the crossbar, bouncing downwards and just over the line enough for the goal to be given.

On the 19th minute, Witton had a chance to double their lead when Owen Dale found Matty Devine in the left-channel and his effort went over from roughly 20-25 yards out.

Farsley equalised on the 28th minute as Luke Parkin cutting in on his right foot from the left flank and he fired a shot into Calvin Hare's right hand post that just snuck into the goal.

On the 35th minute, Witton had an attempt to regain their lead when Paul Williams' ball over the top found Steven Tames who, with the flag staying down, attempted to chip the keeper but Tames' effort went over the bar.

The man of that moment, Steven Tames, did score however the linesman on the far side flagged it for offside.

The half-time whistle blew and it was a fairly even game, despite The Albion having the better chances.

The second half was underway and Farsley came out the traps flying forcing Calvin Hare into making a super stop after a Paul Walker shot threatened to give Farsley the lead.

Only a minute later, Celts' full-back Isaac Baldwin gave the Yorkshire outfit the lead when he cut in from the left-flank and, more than less in a crossing position, manages to bend one perfectly into the far post and bouncing in off the far post leaving Calvin Hare with little chance of reaching it.

It seemed to most that Farsley went up a few gears during the second half yet showed no sign in the first half that they were capable of scoring like they did. The passing was quicker, attacking moves and forward runs were being made. This took Witton almost by surprise and Farsley did in fact score a third goal when again Isaac Baldwin cut in from the left-flank and releasing a shot into the top-right corner.

Ten minutes later, Isaac Baldwin completed his hat-trick when Nathan Cartman found Baldwin to the right of the goal and he bent a shot around the keeper to make it 1-4 to the Celts.

Frasley knew they had control of the game and sat back allowing Witton to have possession of the ball, without Witton breaking into the 18-yard box too often.

There was one point when James Foley dribbled through the entire midfield and straight through the defence where he got a shot off which the keeper saved, resulting in a Witton corner. That corner taken by James Foley eventually found Steve Tames and from two yards out, Tames had to make an immediate decision but his shot was gathered by Farsley keeper, Kyle Trennery.

That was to be Witton's last chance in the game and it ends in a 4-1 home loss to a side that made it count when they had their chances.

Next up we travel to Stalybridge Celtic on Thursday night at Bower Fold. Their is a Supporters Coach leaving the Clocktower (Northwich) at 18:00. Limited spaces are available so if you are interested then please get in touch with Jimmy Powell via his mobile (07760 482922)
