Tom Owens' late goal gives Witton a very important point ahead of a crucial run-in for a place in the Premier Division playoffs.

Relief from the away end came like never before when the 86th minute came round and Tom Owens knocked in James Foley's whipped corner to award Witton with a very well fought point at Cantilever Park.

Witton started off on the front foot as Warrington struggled to get a foothold of the ball. Tom Owens had a effort in the 2nd minute to put The Albion in front but it was deflected behind for a corner. No mercy were to be shown in this game as a corner taken from the right was played short to Anthony Gardner. He hit in a first time ball to Steve Tames, who headed it on into the inside of the far post to break the deadlock on the 3rd minute after some poor defending by Paul Carden's men.

Witton went out for more but couldn't find the target. And not much else happened after those missed opportunities until Tony Gray crept through The Albion backline and missed from roughly 10 yards after running through and the flag staying down, he fluffed his lines.

Warrington's No.11, Devarn Green then ran through on goal but a poor touch took the ball away from his control and Calvin Hare thwarted any trouble from the nippy left-winger. Warrington were starting to grow in the game and gain control to build momentum, this proved with Jack Higgins' header from close range going straight into the hands of Calvin Hare after Steven Jennings whipped in a great set-piece.

The Wire equalised on the 33rd minute when a header miss-guided from Anthony Gardner fell to Devarn Green on the edge of the box and he hit home from the edge of the box. A poor goal to concede but Calvin Hare remainded unsighted right from when Devarn Green first touched the ball in the build up to the goal being scored.

For Witton, Carl and his men were relieved to being going into the break at one a-piece with a chance of giving Warrington a taste of their own medicine after the Wire's late winner vs The Albion on Boxing Day 2017.

Micah Evans was brought on after the second half started and immediately came to good effect as he constantly swapped sides and gave something for the Warrington Town fullbacks to think about. His direct running and dribbling caused havoc to Warrington who only just stopped him going one-on-one with the keeper, Luke Pilling.

On the 55th minute, Warrington were awarded a penalty that left many inside the stadium in disbelief as the referee Dale Baines pointed to the spot after what he saw as dangerous play from Anthony Gardner. Steven Jennings notched the ball into the top right corner sending Calvin Hare the wrong way and giving Warrington a 2-1 lead.

Again, not much happened until the 86th minute when James Foley's corner was poked away by Tom Owens sending the travelling Albion support into mad, joyous celebrations. Albion held on to the 2-2 draw and some would say that Witton deserved more, some would say that a draw was more than fair. Who knows, what we do know is that next Saturday we travel to Marine and we would like similar support going up to Crosby like today.
