Records of 9 games unbeaten in the league and unbeaten away from home in the league since October comes to an end as Jack Dyche's late winner earns The Robins the three points.

Jack Dyche's controversial 83rd minute winner earns Ashton United the win in what was a very well fought battle between two in-form sides.

Albion started off the game in control of proceedings as several half chances were made but not enough to challenge Ashton keeper Carnell. Ashton grew into the game as Witton failed to make use of the early chances made.

Matty Devine found himself high up the left flank several times in the early stages of the game as he won a free kick in a wide position. James Foley took the free-kick and driven it into the side-netting as he tried to catch out Ashton keeper, Carnell.

Liam Tomsett had good chance on Ashton's right side as the ball fell to him at the back post, Tomsett went for an ambitious overhead-kick attempt that went just wide of Calvin Hare's right stick.

The first half ended with Ashton winning the midfield battle and creating the majority of the chances, looking the more likely team to break the deadlock.

However Steve Tames disagrees as he cut inside from the right flank onto his left foot and somehow creeps a shot into Carnell's left hand post sending Albion supporters into madness. Cries of "Zigga Zagga, Albion" rung from the away end,

Before Witton broke the deadlock, Carl Macauley made two changes, Anthony Gardner and Nick Ryan coming on to replace Will Jones and Danny McKenna, this seemed to change the direction of the game for the better of ourselves as Tames did score however the joys were short lived as Ashton United's No.9, Dean Smalley equalised after two previous shots hit the centre of the bar consecutively before Dean Smalley found the far corner.

Ashton would then go on and control the game at their pace with Ashton going close several other times.

The winner came on the 83rd minute when Jack Dyche scored from the right channel that seemed to have crept past Calvin Hare. However this caused a stir and several Witton players went over to the linesman claiming that the ball actually went through the side netting! My doubt about this was that Calvin Hare was still on the ground not appealing so perhaps the referee was correct to give the goal.

The game ended 2-1 to Ashton who look to consolidate their playoff spot that's looking more likely with every passing week. Yesterday was a setback for The Albion but they look to get back to winning ways on Tuesday night as we host Halesowen Town.
