Boxing Day signals 'derby day" for most non league clubs and for Witton it means an encounter with 1874 Northwich.

A year ago today the two sides met at Townfield Lane in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture and Witton came away with a comfortable 4-1 win.

Two goals from Connor Hughes, a goal each from Elliot Rokka and Harry McGee secured the points for Jon Macken’s team with former Albion midfielder Matt Woolley’s spot-kick proving nothing more than consolation for 1874.

The return meeting at the U Lock It Stadium later in the season saw a much tighter game with Elliot Rokka deciding the outcome in Witton’s favour.

1874 have found the season difficult so far but surprisingly saw the departure of joint managers Paul Bowyer and Wayne Goodison.

The currently find themselves second bottom in the table but only three points away from safety going into the game.

Their home record has seen them win two, draw two and lose five of nine games played and Albion will be looking to add to that poor form today.

Witton’s form has been inconsistent this season so the game gives them the opportunity to improve on that but, they won’t be taking the opposition lightly.

Saturday’s defeat was a disappointment but they have to put that behind them and they have the perfect chance to start putting a run together.

Directions: Follow A533 from Northwich to Barnton. Turn off the A533 at the Beech Tree Public House into Beech Lane (Barnton village). Turn at junction with Townfield Lane - signposted Memorial Hall and the football stadium is in Townfield Lane after approximately 200 yards.

Parking: There is limited parking at the ground for players and management. There is a car park adjacent to the ground at the Barnton Memorial Hall however please be aware that the Hall Committee levy a £2 car parking charge. Free parking is available at the library (200m from the ground, on the opposite side) and there is a larger car park at the Primary School (400m from the ground), both being on Townfield Lane. There is also free public parking behind the Co-op store at the opposite end of Townfield Lane. We would respectfully ask that supporters use the car parks and not park on the adjacent streets, as we are extremely mindful of residents’ access. Please be aware that Townfield Lane is one of the main roads linking areas of the village, and we do not want access impeded for residents and people visiting the area. The authorities are aware of the derby game and will be monitoring the situation carefully.

Admission: Supporters are asked to please use Cash payments at the turnstiles. Turnstiles, Cafe & Bar will be open from 1.30pm to assist with managing the expected volume of spectators.

Admission Prices: Adults: £10, Concessions: £6, Under 16’s: £1, Under 12’s: Admitted FREE.

Social Club: The Social Club/Bar is near to the entrance and will be open from 1.30pm. Please note: Alcohol is permitted inside the stadium but MUST be in a plastic beaker.

Refreshments: The Tea Bar/Cafe is near to the entrance and will be open from 1.30pm selling a variety of Hot & Cold drinks and snacks.
