Full Time Score from Dimplewells:
NPL Football Academy - Joma Division:
Ossett United (Navy) 1 Witton Albion Academy 1.
Witton's Academy team had to settle for a point as they brought their Joma Division campaign to a close at Dimplewells on Friday afternoon. Following their victory at Leek Town on Monday, Witton knew that they were guaranteed at least third place in the table an improvement on last season's fifth place and at one stage there was still an outside chance of finishing runners up but results elsewhere ended that hope.
Ossett had shown a big improvement in recent weeks after a slow start in their first NPL Football Academy campaign so, this game was never going to be easy for the Witton team, and so it proved.
Following a goalless first half, Witton gained the initiative early in the second period as Mohammed Alamin gave them the lead and they would then have exected to build on that but Ossett United battled back and equalised through Callum Humphrey late in the game to share the points.
So, the Academy campaign comes to an end for another season and Witton can take a lot of positives from their achievements this season especially in finishing third in the table.
