Witton's Academy team bowed out of the FA Youth Cup at the Preliminary Round stage on Tuesday night.

A tight contest physical at times saw both teams go in goalless at half time.

Witton went in front on 50 minutes when they were awarded a penalty, Taylor Kerrison dispatching his spot-kick past the Sandbach United keeper.

Albion keeper Jenson Barber made a fine save on 54 minutes when the Sandbach forward got through the defence and looked certain to score.

The home side equalised eight minutes later through Thomas Edwards to level the scores and that's how it stayed for the rest of the game.

The penalty shootout saw early kicks missed by both teams until Sandbach United got a 2-1 lead and then made certain with the final kick.
