Defender, born 9/6/89 in Chesterfield who was signed early November following his release, after 8 seasons, from Burnley.Joined Sheffield United's academy in 2004. After spending a spell on loan at Sheffield FC in 2008, in January 2009, went out on loan to the Blade's Hungarian sister club Ferencváros, making 20 appearances for the club. before making the break into United's first team in 2010.
After making 89 appearances (76 starts) & 10 goals he was sold to Aston Villa in 2012. After three seasons and 82 games, 72 in the Premier League, Matt joined Burnley in 2015. Racked up 193 appearances (188 starts) his last being on 8/11/2022 for the Turf Moor outfit.
The final 3 months of last season saw him on loan to Huddersfield Town playing in 9 matches for the Terriers.
