Witton travel north up the M6 on Saturday afternoon, when they face Bamber Bridge in another important Northern Premier League Premier Division fixture.

They will head to Lancashire in a better mood following the draw at Atherton Collieries on Tuesday night, which halted a run of six league defeats and gave the Albion their first point in March.

Bamber Bridge currently find themselves in eighth place in the table, sitting five points outside the play offs and have taken four points from their last two games including a 2-2 draw with Mickleover in midweek.

Despite losing their opening league game to now likely champions Buxton, Bamber Bridge then went on a decent run which saw them handily placed in the play off positions aided with a couple of loan signings from Championship club Blackpool but they have fallen behind in recent weeks.

The fixture earlier in the season at the U Lock It Stadium, was something of a freak result as far as Witton were concerned as things were looking favourable.

The game was tied a 1-1, following Callum Saunders goal which equalled the club record for scoring in successive league games, a record he eventually went on to beat.

With fifteen minutes to play, Witton were reduced to ten men following Cesaire Lingouba's dismissal and going into the last minute the scorers were still level.

Bamber then scored three times in a five minute spell, including two in injury time to secure victory which seemed unlikely until the sending off. The end result proving harsh on Witton but the dismissal was the turning point.

Games are running out now but Witton must surely take confidence from their midweek performance, in a game in which they were the better side and were unlucky not to bring all three points home.

The lads will keep going because there's no other way and they're not the types to give in and the fans certainly won't either.
