Witton welcome Atherton Collieries to the U Lock It Stadium on Tuesday night in a re arranged Northern Premier League Premier Division fixture.

The original game scheduled to be played in early September was postponed due to Colls Emirates FA Challenge Cup replay against Bridlington Town and ironically, Witton went on to play the winners and unfortunately saw the end of our involvement in the competition.

Recent results have put a slight dent into Albion's progress but they have a chance to put that right and victory would see them climb to twelfth in the table.

Atherton were losing at Gainsborough Trinity at the weekend by the only goal whilst Witton were putting on a tremendous second half fightback at home to FC United of Manchester but sadly, it wasn't enough as the game ended in the cruelest of ways when their efforts deserved something from the game.

Another goal from red hot striker Callum Saunders his eighth in twelve games, gave Albion hope and when substitute Rob Hopley equalised with ten minutes remaining anything was possible and FC United's manager admitted afterwards that he was worried but it wasn't to be.

Although the return of Isaac Baldwin and James Foley was certainly a timely boost and adds competition for places in the weeks ahead.

If selected, Albion midfielder Tom Owens will make his 200th appearance in a Witton shirt over two spells with the club following his brief excursion to Australia in between.

Another milestone could be reached during the game if the aforementioned Callum Saunders finds the net, as he will create club history by scoring in the most successive Northern Premier League games so, no pressure there.

Witton will be looking to start the way they finished the last game but hopefully with a better result and Atherton Collieries will be a difficult test so they can't be taken too lightly.

Kick off at The U Lock It Stadium is 7.45pm.
