Witton pick up a point on the road at Bamber Bridge

Witton Albion were denied an away win when Kieran Charnock equalised in the sixth minute of injury time for Bamber Bridge to give the hosts a 1-1 draw at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.

The Albs had taken a first half lead, a goal awarded to Billy Smart although it appeared to be an own goal.

Manager Carl Macauley was able to give two debuts to new signings Connor Heath and Luke Wall, while Smart and Will Jones were recalled to the starting XI.

It was a strong start from the home side, with Chris Renshaw once again in good form to keep the Bridge attack at bay.

The deadlock, though, was broken by the visitors on 28 minutes when a low cross was diverted into his own net by Adam Sumner under pressure from Billy Smart.

Moments later, Smart had to be replaced by Tom Owens, the midfielder suffering from injury.

Renshaw maintained Albion's lead until the break, producing more good saves to deny Bamber Bridge's forward line from getting on the scoresheet.

MJ Monaghan came on in place of debutant Connor Heath on the hour mark, before Renshaw made an excellent double save to keep Albion's lead in tact.

The Witton number one was kept busy, but at the other end, Luke Wall almost got himself a debut goal, Bridge goalkeeper Danny Roccia making a good save to deny him.

Six minutes into injury time, the hosts did finally get that goal to equalise as defender Kieran Charnock headed home past Renshaw to mean the spoils were shared.
