Witton Albion and Northwich Victoria have agreed that the next edition of the annual pre-season friendly between the clubs will be used to raise funds for the NHS.

Both clubs have an agreement to play every summer for the Vijay Anthwal Trophy named after the late Albion doctor who also served the Northwich community.

This summer's fixture, it has been agreed, will see all gate receipts being donated to the NHS as a thank you for the superb work they are currently undertaking with the COVID-19 crisis.

Albion are the current holders of the trophy having beaten Vics after a penalty shoot-out in July 2019.

A date for the fixture will be announced in due course.

The club is currently crowdfunding to help us through the period with income negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
