Defender to team up with National League North side at end of February

The Board of Directors have agreed to the sale of Adam Anson to Vanarama National League North side Southport FC.

The terms of the agreement include a loan back to the club until the end of February.

The 22-year-old has been a mainstay in the heart of the Witton defence since joining the club during the close-season from Chorley, making 33 appearances to date and scoring 1 goal, a penalty against Scarborough Athletic.

Witton Albion Chairman John Salmon said: "Adam was a Contract player with a release clause.

"The Southport FC offer exceeded this figure and, whilst we do not want to sell our best players, we will never stand in any player’s way if they want to play at a higher level.

"We thank Adam for his service and wish him all the best in his future career."

Adam will continue to be available for Albion for the next month, including tomorrow's home game against Stafford Rangers in the BetVictor Northern Premier League, kick-off 3:00pm.
