Unbeaten run stretches to seven but Witton denied by last-gasp spot-kick.
Full Time Score from Wincham Park:
North West U21's Development League Premier Division:
Witton Albion U21's Development Squad 4 FC United of Manchester 4.
Witton's U21's completed the season in the North West U21's Development League Premier Division by stretching their unbeaten run to seven games at Wincham Park on Sunday afternoon.
Following six successive league victories, the final game saw them take on title-chasing FC United of Manchester and Witton got off to a good start when in-form Ryan Malone gave them the lead, only for FC United of Manchester to equalise before the break.
So 1-1 at half time and Witton regained the lead in the second half as Ryan Malone added his second of the afternoon, but FC United drew level for the second time.
Ryan Malone completed his hat-trick to give Witton the advantage once again but yet they still couldn't shake the opposition off as they restored parity for a third time.
Ellis Wrench put Albion back in front for the fourth time and that looked as if it might give them their seventh successive league win but in the very last minute, FC United were awarded a spot-kick from which they shared the points in a cracking game.
So Witton's season draws to a close and it certainly has been a season of two parts, the second half of which has propelled them away from the lower end of the table.
