Late equaliser denies Academy Team victory on the opening day.

Witton's Students almost get the perfect start.
Full Time Score from The Don Arnott Arena:
NPL Football Academy - Joma Division:
Mickleover Sports (Red) 1 Witton Albion Academy 1.
Witton's Academy team kicked off their JOMA Division campaign at Mickleover Sports on Wednesday afternoon and almost came away with a perfect result.
The Derbyshire side finished as runners up to Warrington Town last season and came out on top in all three games they contested with Albion's Students but this afternoon turned out to be very different.
Following a goalless first half, Witton went in front midway through the second period when last season's leading scorer Owen Wynne gave them the lead from the spot after Lucas Bowley was brought down. With time running out, Kyle Grant equalised for the home side a matter of minutes before the final whistle to share the points.
A year ago to the day, Witton were on the wrong end of a seven-goal beating against the same opposition so the progress which has been made in that time is very re assuring. A point is an excellent result for everyone concerned and it might have been more.
