FA Vase Tie to be staged at Wincham Park.

PRESS RELEASE

ISSUED JOINTLY BY WITTON ALBION FC AND 1874 NORTHWICH FC

Witton Albion FC will stage the FA Vase 4th Round tie between 1874 Northwich and Pontefract Collieries at Wincham Park on Sunday 7 January 2018, kick-off at 3.00pm

Commenting on the arrangement - which also provides the opportunity of 1874 staging further games at the same venue later in the season - Witton Chairman Mark Harris said;

“We were delighted to be able to help 1874 by staging this game, which should be a great cup-tie, at our excellent facility. We believe such an arrangement will benefit both clubs in the short term and can also lay foundations for future co-operation.

“We benefit from additional rental and bar income whilst the move also helps reduce the significant impact of two teams playing regularly on the Barton Stadium surface. Both clubs know that ground shares work.”

Reflecting on the news, 1874 Northwich Chairman Paul Stockton commented;

“We’re really pleased that we’ve been able to seal this mutually beneficial deal with Witton and we’d like to thank Mark Harris and the Board of Witton Albion for the professional and business-like manner that they have approached this agreement”

Should 1874 win the tie - which kicks off at 3pm - then they will be just three rounds away from the final that will be staged at Wembley Stadium on 20 May 2018.

All facilities at Wincham Park will be operational and the social club will be open from 1pm.

Additional comment from Witton Albion web contributor Phil Chadwick:

With Barton Stadium, down to try and stage matches on FOUR CONSECUTIVE days, 6-9 January, then with this being a prestigious F.A Competition tie it makes sense to play this one at Wincham Park.
